Not seeing the problem on Dom 8.5.3 FP1

I just did a similar test on our 8.5.3 FP1 server and search seems to work.

Assume docs have the following:
Bob St'Jean
Ed Jeaneareau

If I search for ean - no hits
*ean returns all docs for Bob
*ean* returns all docs for Bob and Ed

I don't believe the client version matters.

Do you have other versions you can play with or is this the only environment you can access?
